Our story
SouMak takes its name from its spiritual birthplace, which is a fringe town south of Makati where it first opened its doors in 1997 as a showroom cum gallery for Philippine-made objects. In 2021, we (a loose consortium of office staff and creatives working under the spell of SouMak’s creator, the artist Yola Johnson) decided to bring SouMak to the present by moving to the digital space.
The reason you found us here. In our intimate boutique, you will find various articles for the home, that includes furniture, accessories, and even hats.
Each piece bears the imprints of a craftsman’s hands or an artist’s strokes, the hallmarks of SouMak’s ethos: A devotion to inspired work whether it’s art—both functional and useless—or handcraft.
